CHARTERED MEDIATOR/QUALIFIED MEDIATOR INFORMATION AND APPLICATION DETAILS


Qualified Mediator (Q.Med)


The Qualified Mediator designation is to recognize members who have completed sufficient mediation and related dispute resolution training to be qualified to practice as mediators. It is an intermediate step for mediators working to receive their Chartered Mediator designation.

The designation assists the mediator by providing a nationally recognized credential to show that the mediator has met nationally and regionally set standards for training and/or experience as a mediator.

Note:  You must be a Full member of ADR Atlantic before applying for a designation.

Applications for Qualified Mediator:
  1. Read the Qualified Mediator Requirements
  2. If not already a member, become a Full member of ADR Atlantic
  3. Complete the Qualified Mediator application form.
  4. Pay the qualified designation application processing fee of $100 + tax.  NOTE:  ADRAI Members: once you are "signed in" to this page, the payment instructions will appear at the bottom of the page, and you will be able to remit the fee online.
  5. Send your designation application form to [email protected]

Chartered Mediator (C.Med)


The C.Med designation is Canada’s senior designation for practicing mediators.

Applications for Chartered Mediator:
  1. Read the C.Med Requirements
  2. If not already a member, become a Full member of ADR Atlantic
  3. Complete the Chartered mediator application form
  4. Pay the chartered designation application processing fee of $200 + tax.  NOTE:  ADRAI Members: once you are "signed in" to this page, the payment instructions will appear at the bottom of the page, and you will be able to remit the fee online.
  5. Send your designation application form to [email protected]

Processing Time

Once we have received and reviewed your application for completeness, we will forward it to the Regional Assessment Committee (RAC) for review. The Regional Assessment Committee's review usually takes approximately 4 weeks as each application is individually and carefully discussed and considered.
If we require more information, we will email you. We will also let you know if the committee has recommended you before forwarding to ADRIC for the designation to be conferred.
