	Jim Oakley is an arbitrator and mediator. He has practiced law since 1980 in the areas of litigation and commercial law. He has been an arbitrator of labour management disputes since 1986. He holds the designation of Chartered Arbitrator. He is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators and has attended many of the Academy's educational seminars on arbitration and mediation. He served on the Newfoundland Labour Relations Board as Vice Chairperson from 1991 to 2004 and also as Chairperson (Interim) from 2003 to 2004. He has chaired discipline tribunals for professional associations and for police and correctional officers. He has served as interest arbitrator to settle the terms of collective agreements and to set prices under the Fishing Industry Collective Bargaining Act. He is an adjudicator appointed to settle disputes under the Canada Labour Code and under a review process of the Canada Revenue Agency. Jim received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Education Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Western Ontario.
